The title Solar Punks is inspired by the “solarpunk” movement — a vision of a sustainable future where people, nature, and community thrive. Our show aims to bring this vision to life by inspiring children and families to imagine, create, and take part in building a world rooted in environmental care, creativity, and community action.
Three best friends from a sustainable future run a mobile fix-it shop, traveling back in time to help today's kids solve real-life environmental challenges with eco-friendly solutions.
Meet the Solar Punks!
Poppy, Pip, and Ollie are a resourceful fix-it crew from a sustainable future. When their utopia starts unraveling due to environmental issues caused by the past, they travel back in time in their AI van, AIDA, to empower real-world kids to solve today's eco-problems. Each solution creates a ripple effect, saving their future and inspiring kids to make a real difference in our world.
A human-plant hybrid with mood-dependent vine hair, Poppy is an optimist who will never give up on a challenge.
Solar-powered human-robot, Pip, is detail-oriented and analytical, with a mechanical arm that transforms into various tools to help solve problems.
Ollie, a human-lizard hybrid, is an underdog with superhero dreams, despite his cold-blooded sluggishness in the mornings.
Working Together for a Brighter Future
At Solar Punks, we believe storytelling can do more than entertain — it can spark real-world action and community transformation. Our mission is to inspire children and families to connect with nature, re-imagine their local environments, and take part in building a more sustainable future.
To amplify this message, we're thrilled to collaborate with KidsGardening.org and The Bee Conservancy, two national leaders in garden-based learning and pollinator protection respectively. Through these partnerships, we’re empowering young people to become active caretakers of their local ecosystems — starting right in their own backyards, schools, and community gardens.
As part of these collaborations:
Please download the free “Planting Pollinators with Kids” guide, created especially for the Solar Punks audience by KidsGardening. This hands-on resource helps children explore the vital role of pollinators and how to support them through gardening.
Plus, KidsGardening is offering our community an exclusive 50% discount on two of their most popular digital downloads — the Pollinator Activity Book and Interactive Pollinator Field Journal. Please use code PUNKS at checkout in the KidsGardening Store.
Explore the Bee Conservancy’s Kids Activities Page for fun, engaging ways to help kids become Bee Heroes — including comics, coloring activities, and ideas for creating bee-friendly spaces.
Together, we aim to bridge the gap between story and action — motivating kids to get outside, engage with their communities, and become environmental stewards. Stay tuned for more world-class curriculum and children's activities coming soon!
